Description

Bruce McCombs’s 1973 etching reflects the artist’s interest in the Midwestern city and its development in relation to innovations in automobiles in the 20th century. Highway focuses on a sleek car design of the 1920s, and the new phenomenon of the highway stretching beyond the horizon––an optimistic portrayal of invention and industry.
