Description
This figure featuring three monkeys was designed by the Danish ceramicist Ingeborg Plockross-Iminger. The figure is displayed with a French silver mount that references Japonisme and Art Nouveau styles that were popular at the end of the 1800s and experienced a resurgence in the 1920s because of increased importation of Japanese goods to the West.
Bing & Grøndahl
established in Copenhagen in 1853 by M.H. and J.H. Bing and F.V. Gøndahl but producing little of interest before 1885 when the painter Pietro Krohn (1840-1905) was appointed artistic director--a post he held until 1895.
