Description
This hemispherical bowl with its thick walls became one of Strömbergshyttan’s most profitable models. Designed by Gerda Strömberg, the bowl was initially available in warm-tinted glass hues. This bowl is an early example of the manufacturer’s shift to glass wares in cooler gray-tinted shades.
Gerda Strömberg
Gerda Strömberg was a designer for the 20th-century Swedish glasshouse, Strömbergshyttan, which was founded by her husband, Edvin Strömberg.
Strömbergshyttan
Established by Edvard Strömberg in 1933, Strömbergshyttan was a 20th-century glasshouse based in Hovmantorp, Sweden. The manufacturer was known for its commitment to practical designs with quality materials. Many wares were designed by the founder’s wife, Gerda Strömberg (1879-1960).
