André Kertész was the second son of a middle-class Hungarian Jewish family.
Kertész had two brothers: Imre, who was older, and Jenö, the youngest. Here, they pose for André’s camera, showing off their athleticism as they enjoy a moment of frolic and fun at a waterside resort. After World War I ended, as life returned to normal, people gloried in the enjoyment of leisure activities such as sports, including swimming.
