Winter bathing is a popular leisure activity in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
While even brief dips into ice-cold water are very stressful on the body, researchers suggest that they may offer some health benefits. Cold baths, as they are known in Sweden, offer a chance to be in nature during the winter. “As we spend more time than ever indoors looking at screens, neuroscientists demonstrate that time outside is vital to human health and happiness,” says Lucas Foglia.
