One of Davidson’s best-known series, Brooklyn Gang was inspired by a news story he read about a teenage gang called the Jokers.
Description
Helen’s Candy Store was the Jokers’ home away from home. Here, the teens enjoyed sodas, milkshakes, egg creams, lime rickeys (lime juice, simple syrup, and seltzer), ice cream, penny candy, and licorice. They read the comic books for sale and hung out. The gang members stole from many merchants but, according to Jokers member Bob Powers, never from Helen.
