Description

Born and raised in Russia, Vishniac moved to Germany after the Russian Revolution. A Jew, he moved to France to escape the Nazis, and in 1940 immigrated to New York. There he began to do portrait work to try to earn a living. He visited Einstein bearing greetings from friends and took the opportunity to photograph the famed physicist.
