Description

This painting is part of Rauschenberg’s Cuba series, incorporating aspects of the hand-painted signs he saw while visiting the Caribbean nation. He went to politically sensitive countries and cultures, including Cuba, to explore the influence of culture and politics on visual culture. The artist funded the project himself in order to have the greatest freedom of expression.
