As a child, O’Sickey attended Saturday classes in illustration here at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
A former professor at Kent State University, O'Sickey maintained a prolific career spanning more than seven decades. Among his most recognizable works are the garden and landscape subjects that helped solidify his artistic reputation during the mid-1960s. Full of radiant color often applied with mosaic-like dabs of pigment, these compositions are further enlivened by patches of bare canvas.
