Description

An example of montage, this image was produced by stacking several negatives together and printing through the sandwich. Roh experimented freely with different techniques to obtain the widest range of psychological expression. He described the technique of photomontage: "from simple fragments of reality, a more complex unit is piled up." This process, he believed, was "based on a deep need of human imagination."
