Description

Tsujimura Shiro is a self-taught potter who has lived for 30 years in the area of Nara Prefecture that borders nearby Shigaraki, which has been a traditional ceramic center since the 10th century. The clay in this vessel comes from Shigaraki, and is characteristically rich in white granular feldspar. This material dots the surface as "melting" granular bumps, adding textural richness to the natural ash glaze hues of the clay surface.
