Gilman discovered his passion for art after a major fall led to a hip injury that left the young artist-to-be confined to his bed where he began to sketch.

Description

Sylvia Gosse, the sitter for this painting by British artist Harold Gilman, was also an artist, specializing in etching. She was also known for being somewhat introverted. Does she seem to reveal any of her personality in this portrait?
