Gift of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Ward 1981.103
Unlike his father, the shin-hanga artist Hiroshi Yoshida,
Hodaka Yoshida preferred the modern artists Paul Klee
and Joan Miro, producing abstract images from blocks that
he carved and printed himself. However, he did follow his
father’s example of experimenting with new techniques and
maintaining a high level of craftsmanship.
