Embossed print in color
Gift of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Ward 1976.116
Maki achieves a three-dimensional effect by creating a
sculptural surface on the printing block. He works his designs
in wet cement on the cut-out areas of a woodblock and
textures the cement before it dries. Dampened paper is pressed
into the irregular surface during printing, resulting in the
raised areas on the print.
