1200s
Green-glazed porcelaneous stoneware, Longquan ware
Overall: 23.5 cm (9 1/4 in.)
John L. Severance Fund 1957.52
The Longquan potter applied many coats of glaze and allowed each to dry before adding another. With
firing, the glaze matured to a thick and cloudy layer, making the pottery more like an exquisite emulation
of jade.
