This vase depicts stylized white-capped waves on a blue background, typical of Sweden’s west coast where the artist loved to visit.
The decorative objects manufacturer Upsala-Ekeby experienced a period of renewal for Swedish ceramic production in the 1950s. This rigidly patterned vase stays true to modern geometric aesthetics while reflecting Atterberg’s fascination with nature, particularly Sweden’s picturesque west coast where she spent most of her summers.
