Description

Hewit occasionally superimposed different hues, placing darker tones over lighter tones to achieve subtle combinations, seen here in the sky in The Trash Barrel. The first work by Hewit to enter the collection, The Trash Barrel was purchased from the May Show by the Print Club in 1936. The club added Hewit’s lithograph Backyard Fences in 1938, also acquired from that year’s May Show.
