Founded in 1916 and 1918, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Orchestra are known worldwide for their artistic excellence, educational programming, and community engagement. Having partnered together in the past for a variety of events, it seemed only fitting that they should once again join to celebrate those individuals who continue to help these world-renowned organizations thrive today. On Wednesday, May 22, the museum and the orchestra came together to kick off a collaborative partnership Lasting Legacies Summer 2013 Lasting Legacies Summer 2013 to honor members of their Legacy and Heritage societies with a morning of music and coffee at Severance Hall. The Legacy and Heritage societies were given a special opportunity to experience the inner workings of the beloved Cleveland Orchestra as they listened to guest conductor Manfred Honeck lead orchestra members through a rehearsal of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. Honeck, music director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, made his Cleveland Orchestra debut just days later.
Continuing our semi-annual collaboration, the Cleveland Museum of Art will host members of the Legacy and Heritage societies on Thursday, August 8 for a morning of art with friends. If you would like to speak to a member of our staff about this event, or if you are interested in making a planned gift to the Cleveland Museum of Art, please contact Diane M.
