The Ingalls Library is one of the largest art research libraries in the United States with more than 440,000 volumes focused on the study of art. The Museum Archives houses the historical records of the institution and functions as the records management center.
The combined resources of the library and archives serve to assist museum staff in researching and planning exhibitions, programming, publications, and acquisitions. The library and archives also serve the general academic communities, museum members, and the public in advancing art historical research of a scholarly or personal nature.
Support of the Ingalls Library and Museum Archives ensures that we are able to continue providing access to a wealth of scholarly resources.
The Ingalls Library welcomes donations of monetary support and the gift of materials.
Monetary donations may be sent directly to the Ingalls Library, where unless specified to the contrary, they will be used for general library and archives purposes. General donations help us to ensure access, preservation, and care of the collections for years to come. Donations may be specifically designated for the acquisition of new materials. Items purchased with funds designated for acquisitions will include a bookplate recognizing the donor.
Monetary donations will be acknowledged in writing in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
For more information about making a monetary donation, please contact the Development department at 216-707-2595 or programsupport [at] clevelandart [dot] org.
Materials are accepted that fall within the scope of our Collection Development Policy. For donations to the collection, donors are encouraged to send a list of proposed items to be donated before bringing them to the library.
Donations of materials to the Ingalls Library are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. The library cannot place a value on donated materials, but we can guide you to directories of qualified appraisers. For additional information related to tax benefits of donations, refer to Internal Revenue Service Publication 561: Determining the Value of Donated Property.
All donations of materials are appreciated and acknowledged in writing. A bookplate recognizing the donor is placed in each volume added to the collection. A gift in honor of, or in memory of, someone special may be designated as well.
Materials that cannot be added to the collection may be retrieved by the donor or placed in the library’s book sale with proceeds going to benefit the library.
