Description
This work served as the inspiration for a poem by Marianne Moore, "To a Giraffe," commissioned by the Poetry Society of America for its volume, Poetry in Crystal, published in 1963, which was a collaboration between a group of leading poets and Steuben Crystal.
Steuben Glass, Inc.
founded in 1903 with F. Carder as manager and specializing in decorative pieces. It was absorbed by the Corning Glass Works in 1918. In 1933 the name was revived as a department of the Corning Corporation.
