Summer Session Eight-week classes, June–August. Special workshops offered on select Wednesdays and four-week mini-sessions on Friday evenings. Join practicing artists in our studios to play with ideas and materials while developing skills and techniques. All skill levels welcome.

TUESDAYS
Still-Life Painting (beginners) Eight Tuesdays/June 11–July 30, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Using oil or acrylic, learn the fundamentals of painting, from organizing a palette and blending, color mixing, brushwork, and glazing techniques to the elements and principles of design and composition. A partial supply kit is available for $80. Instructor: Susan Gray Bé. $240, CMA members $210.

WEDNESDAYS
Drawing in the Galleries (all skill levels) Eight Wednesdays/June 12–July 31, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Hone observation and technical skills as you use charcoal, graphite, and Conté crayons to sketch artworks in the galleries. Instructor: Susan Gray Bé. $245, CMA members $215; includes model fee for one session.

WORKSHOP: Papermaking and Pulp-Paper Printing (all skill levels) Wednesday/June 26, 6:00–8:30 p.m. Take papermaking to the next level. Begin with a handmade paper base, then paint with various colors of paper pulp, with inspiration from the vibrant and textural pieces in Color and Comfort: Swedish Modern Design. Instructor: Michaelle Marschall. $50, CMA members $40.

FRIDAYS
Composition in Oil (all skill levels) Eight Fridays/June 14–August 9 (no class July 5), 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Experiment with line, color, balance, pattern, and contrast to create still-life and figurative compositions in this traditional painting course. Advanced painters are encouraged to further develop ideas and techniques and to experiment with paint application. A partial supply kit is available for $80. SATURDAYS
Drawing in the Galleries (all skill levels) Eight Saturdays/June 15–August 10 (class will meet at Cleveland Museum of Natural History on June 22; no class July 6), 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Hone observation and technical skills as you use charcoal, graphite, and Conté crayons to sketch artworks in the galleries. Instructor: Susan Gray Bé. $245, CMA members $215; includes model fee for one session.

WORKSHOP: Pinhole Photography (all skill levels) Saturday/June 29, 1:30–3:30 p.m. Learn how to make a pinhole camera to create abstract compositions with old-school film exposure and developing techniques and use the summer sun as your light source. Instructor: Ben Hauser. $50, CMA members $40.
